"Pyrotechnics put to use in satellites"
March 30, 2009 – A communiqué from Egide (PLC)
Lacroix Defence & Security, a specialist in pyrotechnics, and Egide, specialised in the manugacture of boxes for electronic components, combined their know how to set into orbit on February 12 two Spirale satellites made by Astrium. The solar panels were deployed following the ignition of a smaller and lighter pyrotechnic system than the current mechanic systems in use.
